Hi everybody, my name is Scott and I have a problem. I can’t stop waterfowling. I have been dealing with this problem for the past 27 years. I know that my family has suffered greatly as a result of this problem. I have spent more time and money than any normal person would even consider. I will openly admit that I have no desire to kick this problem. The way I see it there are many benefits:
1) My family gets to eat the most expensive food know to man (wild duck) 2) I have the joy of watching god’s creation come to life every 3) I can justify my IP provider bill as an addiction expense 4) What else would I do with the garage space if I didn’t decoys and hunting stuff to store 5) It is easy to buy me Christmas gifts. (just replace the stuff I broke prior to Christmas)
I have two small children that I am attempting to get started with this problem. My wife has rejected all attempts I have made to get her started. She is a better person than me. She has however accepted my condition and supports me. She has done this to the point of buying me several boats even though I tell her that every one is the last one. I wonder what she is going to say when I tell her I’m going to build a boat that will only hold one person, will not move, can’t be seen, and that I have to haul it on top of my boat. I assume she will just consider it another illogical activity resulting from my problem. This is the same reaction she had when I started carving my own decoys.

Howdy Fellow Quackheads!
I'm JD and have Quackhead Disease just like ODHA II!!! I'm 43, been feather-dusting waterfowl for 30 years. I've got a Life-Partner Carolyn (tried the marriage thing.....just dosen't work for ME), who I just introduced to waterfowling and she is starting to display classic Quackhead Disease symptoms....you know, lurking on waterfowl fourms, reading waterfowling books, checking out waterfowling gear at Cabela's and Macks.....typical symptoms. On the bright side it is treatable for several months out of the year. We own an Internet Cafe in NE Alabama which is currently being constructed (Carolyn is the Manager/Boss). I have a on-hold waterfowl Guide Service there as well. I'm retired US Air Force (21 years+, 12 years in Special Tactics, and 9 years as a AFOSI Special Agent). I currently work in Iraq as an Independent Contractor suporting the State Department's High Threat Protection mission. We have a 18 year cub still at the house soon to graduate HS and move on to college. We will be getting a new home w/acreage this summer, and hopefully in another year, we will be getting two fur-covered kids, aka, Chesapeakes!! Feel free to holler at me anytime at jd_odell@yahoo.com
Cheers!

| Hello to all. My name is Dennis Budd. I'm married (40 yrs)with 3 kids and 2 grandkids. I recently got into diver hunting and received the plans for the one man layout boat from Tony and will start building it when the weather breaks. I'm presently in the process of putting together a diver decoy rig made from foam. I have 4 dozen bluebills completed and will add a dozen each of Reds, Cans and Buffs before I'm through. |

Greeting all, Marv Van Gorden here. I'm married with 2 grown sons and a pair of grandkids. I live in southern Michigan, and work on the railroad all the live long day. I've been in the duck hunting scene for about 30 years, mainly some old smelly marsh or lake shore over a modest spread of deeks.
About two years ago I tried to throw out an lil' old sailboat but the trash man wouldn't take it unless I cut it up. I was standing there with sawsall in hand when I had a spark of an idea. I cut out the cockpit big enough for my wide butt, glassed up the keel hole and mast step, gave it the "krylon" touch and viloa, a layout boat was born. Since then I've tweeked it by adding a splash guard, sealing most of the seams, and adding some floatation. It has worked great, very low profile above the water.
This last season I got serious about layout hunting. My dad (my hunting partner) and I worked out the bugs with our decoy spread and optimum boat placement, he's right handed I'm left. Good shooting and better times were spent with "Pops".
I was surfing the web looking to build a new layout boat. One that is easier to get in and out for Pops and can handle the big water of Lake Erie or Lake St Clair. The info from this site is top notch. I'm glad to find other people who share my passion of hunting and boat building.

Hello My Name is George Vuksta from Erie Pa I started duck hunting again about 6 years ago after a long layoff. I had never been layout boat hunting till three years ago. I met a guy online who needed help as he couldn't go alone. First time in the boat It false dawn when I got it couldn't see very much. Well as it got light I had about 2 dozen bluebills come in about 4 feet over my head. I was astonished to see them that close I didn't even sit up to shoot. A few minutes later a single came in and I dropped it 10 feet from me. i was hooked for life on diver hunting. All my experience before that time was in swamps and small lakes for puddle ducks. I'm in the process of making foam decoys to expand our spread. I want to make my own Layout and sneak boat as time allows. Best Wishes george |

Hey everyone. My name is Randy Eyre and I'm 23years old. I live in NW Ohio about 10 minutes from the Maumee Bay area of Lake Erie, often called the bluebill capital of the world. I've been layout hunting for 4 years, duck hunting for 7. I hunt from Upper Michigan down to Erie and all around NW Ohio. Marshes, rivers, ponds, and field, I don't judge too much, just like being out chasing birds.

| Hello, My name is Neal and I'm 33 and live in Potland OR. with my wife and 2 kids. I have never layout hunted but have wanted to for around 4 or 5 years. I have not had the means because I did not have a Tender. Well that has all changed and I plan on building a layout this summer. I have yet to see any layout hunters where I'm at so my only resource is the web so I'm pretty exited to find this forum. |
