I have a full garage (2 daily drivers and a restored 60 CJ5) How much room am I going to need to build a layout? I can park my truck outside to free up one bay but that is it. The Jeep does not have a top and I'm not asking the wife to park outside . I can not build outside because of restrictions. I have to put my big boat in storage!!

1 bay should be plenty of room to build a 1 man boat. a 2 man might be tight

Thanks Tony,

I'm developing my plan of attack for breaking this idea to the wife. I know the questions she is going to ask so I am trying to make sure I have a "good" answer. Quality time with the kids seems to be to primary selling point. I just have to get her past the "another BOAT!!!" reply. I don't think she will buy it but you have to have an angle.

It is always easier to ask for forgiveness than it is to ask for permission. I would do that with building the boat but I don't think I can get it done before she notices it (considering she will be parking next to it)

You could try " with better equipment I could limit out quicker, and be home early to spend time with the family"

I have been married 20 year and learned that the answer is "not". Things go much better now that I have accepted that fact.
