I know layouts are deadly on low fliers but how about puddle ducks or divers that are flying higher than normal. All my layout experience has been way north so the birds were still cruising on the deck. Due to pressure most the birds I hunt now like to sit in the middle of the lake and unless the wind is up they approach the decoys from way up. Are there any tricks of the trade for hiding a layout in open water from the high fliers?

I use an old gray wool blanket I got way back when. I covers up your body pretty well and is cheap.

I've never done it but I've seen pictures of people who used a small section of grey, waterproof canvas.
