I'm trying to figure the cost to build a layout. Do I need marine grade plywood or will good plywood from Lowes work? I don't want to have to build one every summer.

I need to figure cost so I can pitch it to the boss

I think that some types ao marine plywood are lighter than standard plywood. Also the marine ply is supposed to have fewer voids within the laminations.

USe E-glass and epoxy resin, Voids in the wood are pretty much meaniningless when the boat is properly glassed over. And the extra expense in the wood would almost make buying a glass one more realistic when it comes to costs. Using normal lumber from Lowes etc and materials from Us composites the cost to build the 1 man boat is around 450.00 Add the cost of the marine ply which will almost double this figure.

Thanks for the inputs. I was wondering what the $$$ would be. Now I just need to finish the to-do list that built up during hunting season so I can start.
